Born in Gaithersburg, MD and raised in Germantown, MD is new rising singing sensation Rachel. Starting off dancing, singing and songwriting, Rachel loved being on stage, having a backround from musical theater training. Speaking on her humble beginnings she states "I started branching out in the DC area with other local Artists and bands I realized that I wanted to sing as a soloist and do my own songs that I've written, I realized that writing was my outlet and my therapy".
Every Artist has their early influences growing up. Influences are great as it shows where an Artist drew an inspiration from. Rachel cites Artist such as Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Paramore, Janet Jackson and one of her all time favorites Aaliyah. Speaking on her influences she explains "Yes I loved me some Aaliyah, she was one of a kind and just had her own style, she was special."
As new Artist get discovered everyday every star has those unique qualities that make them stand out. One thing that Rachel brings to the table is her versatility. As a vocalist she can lend her talents in many genres such as Pop, Rock and R&B. This can be easily seen as well as you can see the diversity amongst her early influences.
While she's a rising solo act, at the end of the day she is all about making great music. She speaks on teamwork as well "Collaborating is also a great aspect that I enjoy, it's about living in everyone's team effort putting on a show singing anything from R&B, Rock to Electronic Dance Music, to Pop, Top 40 covers, sometimes in the spirit of the holiday that month so the audience can see the versatility".
Right now Rachel is an independent Artist and fine with that as well as she's allowed to stay creative and if a label comes along to make her bigger, she is open to a discussion with no problem. Music always changes and with that being said, Rachel is bringing something fresh and adding her dancing and singing abilities into it, goes to show she is a star in the making.
She has a new single out right now available on all digital platforms titled "Finally Free". Finally Free has gained numerous great feedback and Rachel is preparing to drop a new EP as well. The EP focuses on the rough time in her past which even adds on from the single "Finally Free" in which Rachel had health issues that she eventually overcame. These are a collection of songs based on her experiences the last two years.
Competition is fierce as always in today's music business and with the current oversaturation it can make it hard for an Artist to get their big break. One thing that stands though is a star will eventually shine and Rachel's star will eventually be bright.
